Why #2Min PD?

Over the past couple of months we have been working on creating a #2MinPD slot during the staff meeting. I credit John Dalesio for bringing the idea to my attention and I enjoyed reading this article by Melissa Pelochino who wrote about the original concept. The concept is to produce a video piece that is no longer than 2.30mins and share it with the faculty, department....

Why do it?
It is good to share!
  • We are all imaginative and resourceful teachers who have great ideas and tools. We could learn from one another if we shared these ideas.
  • We often go on training and courses and lack the opportunity to share the ideas that excited us.
  • We often find something that works and assume others already do this - often they don't.
  • We work in an IB school where reflection is key, this is a great way to reflect on our own practice.
  • It is fun to create and then share your creation.
Here is our twitter feed so far - full of great shares from the staff at the High School

I have personally really enjoyed the experience and have learnt loads of new and useful tips. At the moment it is mostly techie tips, as the format lends itself to this. To be honest they are the videos I find easiest as I can make one without it needing any editing. However, it would be great if we also had some teaching ideasSo now my hope is that we continue to share and through that continue to experiement and develop as classroom teachers. To be honest this is the hardest part for me. I see so many good ideas and useful tech, but I am still slow at integrating it into the classroom...by the time I have remembered often the unit has passed. So I am hoping to find a gem in the 2MinPd that I can pick up and use straight away!Hopefully this will grow and grow and become a resource of excellent ideas!
