Using Flipboard App in Lessons

I am really lucky to work with such amazing staff. A Humanities teacher at my school has rolled out an experiment using the Flipboard App. He used to get pupils to create PowerPoints each week with comments on news articles and current affair pieces, he then used Google Docs to allow them to comment on each others. These articles would then be used, during a two year course, to help the pupils revise current topics that they could reference in the exams. He decided to try something new and it was my pleasure to help him with this. He introduced the concept of using the Flipboard App, where pupils set up there own magazines and collected articles. They could comment on each others articles, comment on their own articles and collaborate on the magazines. They could add articles from other Flipboard Magazines and from the internet. For Android users the internet article was shared to the magazine with one click. For Apple users, frustratingly, this service was not available, and they could only add these articles by using the extension that can be added to the web-browser.For me I was excited on two counts, firstly working with a creative and inspiring teacher who wanted to make tasks engaging and instantly accessible for the pupils. Secondly, to see how a Phone/Tablet App can be harnessed to be such a valuable teaching tool.
