New Year

The end of the year approaches and I need to reflect on my practices.Every year I give the pupils a chance to evaluate me and my lessons. I love the feedback and try to use it to shape my teaching for the next year. I realise more and more that I need to do this in the December so that I can make changes in a more timely manner. However, that is for next year! This is what I have found from the surveyPositive:

  • Friendly environment where they can ask questions
  • Plenty of energy and positive attitude in class
  • Good control the room
  • Well planned lessons which are easy to follow
  • Always willing to help

Improvements:

  • Talk to much, or over explain tasks
  • Should try and add more "hands on learning"
  • Need to explicitly  examples of previous work
  • My voice can be too loud

So the new year has just started, this wee post has been in my drafts all over the summer! I will print these improvements and post them in my classroom, hopefully I will not have the same improvements when the pupils review the course in December!Focuses this year will be:

  • Work with more staff - not sure how to do this, but I know I must. I have good relationships with staff I just need to get into the classrooms.
  • Make the improvements suggested by the pupils.
  • Sort out my resources for the MYP to make my lessons dynamic.
  • Develop a good platform to share resources effectively with the staff.

So let's see if I manage to make some inroads into this list before December!
